Don't buy
someone else's problem.

Found a used car you like? Before you pay a cent, get Don to look at it. 17 years of buying and selling means he sees the trouble the seller is praying you'll miss.

The private-sale trap

The car looks perfect. That's the point.

A wash, a polish and a confident smile hide a lot. By the time the real problems show up, the seller's phone is off and the money's gone.

01

The accident they didn't mention

Straightened chassis, resprayed panels, a shell that's been welded back together. It drives fine on the test loop, then it doesn't.

02

The odometer that lies

A spun-back cluster turns a tired 240,000km taxi into a "one owner, low km" bargain. The wear tells the truth if you know where to look.

03

The R40k bill in three months

Tired engine, slipping gearbox, clutch on its last legs. Cheap to hide, brutal to fix, and it's your problem the second you pay.

Drag to see the difference

What you see. What Don sees.

Same car, same test drive. One of you is looking at the paint. The other's looking at everything underneath it.

Ballpark only. Based on typical SA figures for undetected accident damage and major drivetrain repairs. Your mileage, quite literally, may vary.

On your side, not the seller's

What Don actually clocks.

A dealer wants the sale. A private seller wants out. Don wants nothing but to tell you the truth so you sleep at night.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

The mechanical read

Engine, gearbox, clutch, suspension, brakes. He listens, he drives, he feels for the stuff that turns into a five-figure bill three months after you buy. Seventeen years of "that noise means trouble" packed into one walk-around.

๐ŸŽจ

The accident history

Mismatched paint, uneven panel gaps, overspray, a chassis that's been straightened. If it's been smashed and patched, he'll know before you do.

๐Ÿ“‰

Odometer & paperwork

Km that doesn't match the wear. A service book that reads like fiction. The lies live in the details.

๐Ÿ’ง

Rust & flood damage

Underbody rot, damp carpets, that musty smell that means it once went for a swim.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

A straight verdict

No jargon, no fence-sitting. Buy it, walk away, or here's how much to knock off.

Dead simple

Four steps, zero stress.

1

Send the link

WhatsApp Don the ad, the car's details, and where it is.

2

He books it in

He confirms a time, sorts the fee, and meets you at the car.

3

The once-over

30 to 45 minutes of cold, honest inspection, including a minimum 5km test drive on real roads. Cold start, the lot.

4

The verdict

A clear buy / walk / haggle call, in writing, before you hand over a rand.

The deliverable

Not "some guy looked at it." An actual verdict.

Every inspection ends with a written summary you keep forever. Green means good, amber means watch it, red means think hard, and a plain-English call at the bottom you can wave at the seller while you knock down the price.

Fair questions

The stuff people ask.

Do I need to be there?
Nope. Plenty of buyers can't make it, especially if the car's an hour away. Don can go solo, meet the seller, do the check and send you everything on WhatsApp. Come along if you can though, you'll learn a ton watching him work.
Is this a mechanical guarantee?
No, and anyone who promises that is lying. This is an expert visual and road-test assessment built on 17 years of hands-on experience. It catches the vast majority of problems before you buy, but it's an honest opinion, not a warranty on the car.
How thorough is the test drive?
Proper thorough. Don takes every car for a minimum 5km drive on real roads, not a lap around the block. Town speeds, open road, a few firm stops. Half the faults only show up once the car's warm and working, so this is where the hidden stuff comes out.
How far does Don travel?
He's based in Hillcrest and covers the whole Upper Highway corridor through to Pietermaritzburg in the price. Further afield is no problem, there's just a small travel fee agreed upfront on WhatsApp before anything's booked.
What if the car turns out to be a dud?
Then you've just saved yourself a fortune. That's a win, not a wasted R750. You still get the full written verdict explaining exactly why to walk, handy when the seller asks why you changed your mind.
How quickly can he look at a car?
Usually within a day or two, often same-day if the diary's open. Good used cars get snapped up fast, so message the moment you've found one and he'll move quick.

Found the one? Let Don look first.

Send the ad, the car details, and where it is. He'll take it from there. Five minutes now saves you a world of pain later.
